Welcome to the Babywise Friendly Blog Network Week! This week happens twice a year, and it is SO very exciting. This week I have the pleasure of bringing to you, 8 posts all on the hot babywise topic of: sleep.

Below you will find our schedule for the week, so you know what sleep topics to expect.

Today I am super excited about these final two posts! Emily and Carrie are so brilliant with their writing. These are must reads about children and their sleep needs!

1. How to Tell If You Have a High Sleep Needs or Low Sleep Needs Baby

Sleep can be a challenging thing to figure out with little babies that can't just tell us what they need. This post is so insightful. Emily talks about high sleep needs babies versus low sleep needs children. She outlines specific traits to look for when trying to determine your baby's unique sleep needs.

"I am a hardcore Babywise mama. I start implementing sleep strategies from birth to help my babies become great sleepers (Click here for my post on how to start Babywise from birth!). It's not easy: it takes WORK. When you put in all that work, time and effort and then your baby just isn't sleeping the way you think they should be it's beyond stressful.

Sleep issues can be frustrating and it can be tempting to just say "I GIVE UP!" I've learned over my years of parenting that sometimes there are sleep struggles simply beyond our control. Enter in the high sleep needs vs low sleep needs baby.

When I think back to my first child as an infant I wish I'd known about high sleep needs and low sleep needs. I wish I'd been able to tell myself that Kye wasn't sleeping because his body simply didn't need the sleep.

Both types of sleep needs children still NEED sleep, but high sleep needs babies tend to be on the higher end of the sleep spectrum whereas low sleep needs one tend to be on the lower end of that sleep spectrum. Babywise even accounts for this as it provides a range of what is an appropriate amount of sleep at a given age.

I took me until my THIRD child to FINALLY realize and recognize the differences between a high sleep needs and low sleep needs baby. Having that knowledge has made a WORLD of difference."

2. How to Continue Healthy Sleep Habits with Older Children

Sleep is so important for everyone. It's important to lay a good foundation when our children are young, and it is important to keep sleep as a high priority.

The reality is that if we get enough sleep (as babies through to adulthood), our body is physically ready to take on the world, and our minds are awake to learn and process things.

Today, Carrie talks about why sleep is so important, what types of habits to hold onto with your older children, when to be flexible, and how to troubleshoot sleep issues.

Sleep Posts for this week:

Ok this is why I love being a part of the Babywise Friendly Blog Network group. There are a total of 8 women that have implemented babywise techniques on all of their children. The resources here are insanely wonderful, and all of these ladies know so much about sleep.

We all value sleep for our children so much, and we prioritize it accordingly. These sleep topic posts have me so excited to read more and learn more, as we all always can do.

Monday, we of course have Valerie's post on the topic of how to solve sleep problems for toddlers and preschoolersSuch great advice here and easy to implement solutions to a common sleep problem that we'll all encounter with our little ones.

We're only half way through the babywise sleep topic posts at that point in the week!

Wednesday is a double post day! We have Kim from Team Cartwright posting on a fabulous sleep topic. She's talking about why she is a happy mama when her kids are awake in bed after bedtime. I have to say, I am really excited to read this post.

She has 7 reasons why it's beneficial for kids to be awake in their beds after you put them in for the night. I am all about this "downtime" in bed as well, so I think this is such a great post topic.

Next up, on Thursday, Christine Keys will be talking about babywise in general, and how babywise is an effective tool for all kinds of babies. You can make babywise work for your baby's unique sleep needs.

Friday is going to be another very informative babywise sleep day.

Emily, from The Journey of Parenthood, is writing on one of my favorite topics. High sleep needs children versus low sleep needs children. It is true, that some babies need more sleep than others.

There is always an average amount of sleep for every age, but some are on the high end of that sleep average, and some on the low end. I'm excited to hear what this mom of 4 has to say about it!

I hope you join us for all of these amazing sleep topics. I will bring them all to you on the blog daily so you can find the links easily!
